Embedded within the American social, political, and economic systems are various forms of structural violences. Over the next few weeks the CSSJ will be organizing a series of conversations, This is America, exploring these violences, their historical roots in racial slavery and possibilities for an alternative future. The first conversation in the series, Black Lives: Structural Violence, Protest and Change will take place on June 11, 2020 from 4:00-5:30 PM. This event is free and open to all. Panelists include Dr. Joy James (Ebenezer Fitch Professor of Humanities at Williams College), Felicia Denaud (PhD candidate in Africana Studies at Brown), Dr. Brian Meeks (Chair of the Department of Africana Studies at Brown), moderated by Dr. Anthony Bogues (CSSJ Director).
